Regarding STIP Panel-

Hi All,
We are using Halliburtons' Modified version of STIP(CPF) what they call CHIP (Cased Hole Interface Panel). This panel doesnot include Line-Length adjustment pot. Earlier systems (SOIP) we saw have used the this type of pot to get optimum quality signal. What is the difference between the two? :)

2nd-  We are using kerr panel for depths measurement. Depth window also appears in the Computer. We set the Kerr and computer system with Zero depth at the surface, after 4000 mtrs or so we find the difference between these values of say 4.0 mtrs. Here it is important to note that depth feed is coming from the same optical encoder. What could be the reason? ???

The warrior system has never had a pot for signal.  It is not an SOIP System.

On the depth panel do you have a mechanical odometer?  If so which panel is correct with the odometer.

Hi David,

In SOIP systems we are used to is observe the signal quality in the scope and adjust the Line length Pot. This in effect changes the signal amplitude. We'll stop at max amplitude of the signal. This can be called as matching the impedance. :)

What I wanted to know is how the STIP CPF of warrior system takes care of this problem ie maximum power transmission at surface system side and optimum signal coupling at tool end. ???

The USB panels have a Hi/Lo termination.  They also have gains, Filters (bandpass and Hipass with a Q) that can be set to compensate for line differences.

  I would check the Kerr panel for the right wheel size or pulses set for the revolution of its wheel size.
And as David said check to if the mech.If you have one is right with the Warrior,or the Kerr.
